XC-70 2000 - Headlight Wiper broke - CAN I JUST REMOVE IT?

Post by Dr Dave »

I've never had much of a need for the headlight wipers. The driver's side one froze up completely, and then got stuck under the hood! When I tried to move it down a bit .. <SNAP!>.. it came off in my hand. Rather than replace it, I'd like to just take both of them off.

Is there some way I can do that, or am I just asking for more trouble?

Yes, you can remove it but you'll also need to disconnect the motor behind it otherwise, it will just keep running without the wipers working. A company (I'd have to check) also sells a plug that goes in where the wipers were that you can repaint to match your car's color- a very nice solution, I think.
