I Miss My Music!!

Hi! I ran the battery down on my 1989 Volvo 760, and the radio hasn't worked since. The speaker comes on, but all I get is static, and the tuner asks for a "code". I do not have the owner's manual for the sound system, so can't check that. What do I do to get the necessary code?

I miss my music!!

If you take your VIN # and proof of registration to any Volvo dealer, they can give you the code. If they want to charge you for the service, go to another dealer, this is a service provided gratis. Then, make sure to keep the card in a safe place

To enlarge on Derail's advice, some dealers will give you the code over the phone if you provide the VIN, others insist on a personal visit.

If the radio is a replacement the code supplied for the VIN won't work so you will have to give the serial number of the radio. This can be found on a label on the radio. I have always had both numbers ready. You may also be lucky and find that someone has written the code on the label. Not very secure but it is done. The code is 4 digits.
