S80 T2.0 2000 Starting Issues

Hi Guys,
Today morning I had a tough time.

The volvo just refused to start. Everytime I turn the ignition key there is a loud clicking sound from the engine and it wouldn't start. Also I've noticed that during the clicking, the dashboard will lose power and the clock will reset.

Is this because my battery is losing power or do I have a knackered starter motor?? Any suggestions on how I can isolate the issue?? I don't mind buying a new battery but getting a new starter motor means I'll have to order it from either Australia or USA!! That means atleast a week's downtime..

The dashboard lights and clock resetting are huge clues- yes, I would say that your battery is extremely low or there is a break in one of your battery leads- possibly due to corrosion, so check those.

Replaced the battery and the car started on the first turn of the key. Thanks for the help..
