1994 850 Turbo Wagon - CD Changer install

I have the changer, the 8 din and power cord, SC 810 Head Unit w/ cd control. I want to install the changer in the storage bin horizontally. Do I just install the changer to the flimsy board the covers the spare tire? Also, what is the best way (and steps) to get the cord up to the head unit?
