PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!

Post by Steven242 »

Alright, update time, remember all those problems I was complaining about, and trying to figure out? Well, It turns out it was the ujoints after all...

My carrier bearing was fine, and the support dounut around it is a little old, but still has its firmness.

The front u joint was still alright, but the center and the rear were so far gone I was surprised I didn't drop the drive shaft out of the car. The center joint had the needle bearings rusted to the joint itself, it took the mechanic almost two hours to free the u joint out of place to install the new one. The rear one was scarred from where the needle bearings were rubbing.

Turns out the whole reason for the horrific u joint failure was the moron that owned the car before me replaced the u joints and put a screw in the grease points...

Thank you all for putting up with my complaining, and answering my questions. I should have never gone to a transmission shop to begin with, this problem would have been solved a month or so ago if I would have just gone to the mechanic I always took my cars to, and gave better descriptions of what was wrong so ya'll can better help me diagnos the issue.

Now that I got her back on the road in top running order, I can focus on the other things, like Paint, Interior, and Sound System.

Plans for the old car is to take off all the chrome strips around the car, have the holes filled in, maybe a custom front and rear bumper, custom tail lights (can't for the life of me find the original), Paint the whole thing Satin Black and get a ghost flame job on the hood and front fenders. Then on the interior I'll be covering the seats in black and white vinyle, same with the doors, Black floor (debating on rubber or carpet). The stereo is gonna be the best yet. The back dash is big enough to fit two 6x9s and an 8 or 10 inch sub woofer. I'm gonna have a custom box made to hold all three speakers and sit nicely on the back dash and incorporate the seat belt cover thingys back there. Front doors I'm going to fit a 4.5 inch and a 6x9, and a Tweeter in each door panel. Gonna have the 4.5 in stock location, Tweeter is gonna be mounted to cover the Mirror bolt, and the 6x9 will go down at the bottom of the door panel towards the front.
Once I get all that in, I'm going with two amps, one for the sub, and the other for the rest of the speakers.

Wish me luck on hitting the lottery, or else it will be a very long ride. to finish it off.

I'll keep you updated.
