The dealers, our garage, Volvo UK have all drawn a blank on this one. Everyone looks puzzled and says they don't know! When the seat belts are done up in our rear facing child boot seats the seatbelt buckle clicks into the stalk (which is fastened to the wheel arch) but the buckle of the seat belt sits directly under the boot seat metal diagonal strut and is in contact with it. If there were to be an accident, the buckle would collide with the metal of the diagonal strut. I am concerned that this would be a point of weakness and that the buckle might even shatter. (As in "buckle crunch" with child safety seats). It is odd that the buckle does not do up even 2cm further to the side where there would be no problem. I am worried that perhaps they are in the wrong place. When we had the seats first put in we had to take them back to he dealer as we could not get the spare wheel out and they moved it a little. I wonder if this has affected things.
I really want to know if other people's rear seat belts are in the same position? These conversions for the 940 are quite unusual now and so I have not been able to find anyone to compare notes with.
Really hope someone can help. Can we swap photos?
