Car shuts off about once a week while driving

2004 S60, 2.4 -- This is the strangest thing...about once every couple of weeks if I make a quick right hand turn, the engine will completely die and steering is nearly impossible (obviously). The gas tank is usually over half full, so its not that. I quickly shift the car into neutral and it starts right back up. The check engine light has been on recently and I've stopped at two different auto parts stores and their instruments show no codes.

Without knowing more, it's hard to tell what's going on. W/ Check engine light on, obviously there's an issue. I would try an independent mechanic who can read Volvo specific codes... but turning and dying sounds like some type of electrical glitch- may be as simple as a loose ground wire.
