2001 V70 Overvoltage warning

Post by jammy »

I am moderately skilled at auto repair and just got an overvoltage indicator on my 2001 V70. Because it happened at almost exactly the same spot on the way back from work two days in a row, I figure it is temperature related (it's been a scorcher in DC this week). This makes it look more certain to be the regulator and not the alternator itself. What do you think??

Anyway, how hard is it to replace the reg? I understand it is inside the alternator, so that would have to come out in the first place ...?

Thanks for any advice. Oh, and if anyone can send me links to any helpful pics, that would really, really be appreciated!

There's a typo on this one - it says 2002 but it's really for a 2001:
