2001 V70 T4 Electrical Issue

Post by Meauxhawk2 »

I am having an issue with what seems to be the Fuse 24 which controls, the driver seat, climate control etc. It is a 10amp fuse and when removed seems to be in tact. When replaced and ignition on but engine off the seat works. Once engine is switched on seats do not work

Likewise the A/C blows cold for a while then shuts down. Turning off the A/C for a while and then turning on it will cool for a while then stop.

I friend said it sounds like a short in ignition switch.

A/C will run and cool almost interrupted when on highway where little change in RPM or speed and if fan is keep no higher than two clicks.

Thanks for any comments

I think these two problems may not be related. WRT the ignition switch, I think it's an open and not a short. You might need a new switch or a bypass or perhaps you can spray some contact cleaner into it to clean it up.

Does the AC stop at the same time the seat stops working, every time? If so, then they are related problems.

Thanks vegasjetskier,

Okay I will try cleaning the ignition.

No the A/C typically will work for a short while when the engine is started. It will work at any fan speed. As mentioned at a steady 70MPH on the IState the A/C continues to cool as long as fan speed is not about 1 or 2.

Start and stop in town driving will shut even the low fan speed cooling.

The A/C and seat problem, perhaps coincidentally, started about the same time. Since the 24 fuse handles both seat and climate control I thought them related.

Sounds like the AC might need a charge of freon.
