The check engine light was on a few months ago. When I took to my Volvo mechanic (not dealer), he said there was a leak from a bad gas cap. I replaced the gas cap a few weeks ago, but the CEL is still on.
Should I have the codes read AGAIN by my mechanic? Or will it take a while for the codes to reset on their own?
Thanks.

Should have reset in less time than you've already allowed. I would think that what you have is a evap leak- maybe a line from the gas tank to the charcoal canister or even the evap solenoid. What trouble codes come up when you read them?
