Hi,

Hi,
Does anyone know the procedure to replace the transmission mount?
Mine just gave in two days ago and I ordered a new one from FCP GROTON and should have it in the next day or two.
There is a knock/thump sound under the car when I start and shut the engine. When I place the car in reverse, which is when it really starts to make more of the described sound.
Any photos would help as I searched and could not locate any write-ups on this topic.
Thank you in advance,
Eric

All I can find is this parts diagram. It looks like it would be a typical mount change: place a floor jack under the transmission and lift just enough to take the weight; take out the bolts/nuts and lower the crossmember; replace the bad mount; reverse the steps to reinstall.

They have different mounts for the stick and the auto. Its simple ,jack up the trans a touch and replace.
I always change the engine mounts and trans at the same time . Usually only one side is goind bad on the engine but I do both motor mounts and the trans together.
When the motor and trans move too much it slaps the exhaust up against the car- thats what you are hearing.
I put in all 3 mounts about every 150K miles

Gentlemen,
Thank you for the quick reply.
I agree on the motor mounts too. Had the car since 123 k and they have not been done...
I will to do the tranny first before I do damage, and within the next 30 days I'll do the motor mounts... I have a busy work schedule so, do whatever I can ehen I can and the motor, well, cant do it now.
Thank you.
