Post by Sharpy »

Hello, Will a K&N air filter make the air flow settings different on a stock '81 244GL or just throw it in and drive the old girl.

A K&N is a good filter but I don't know if I would put it on a car that is coming up to having half of it useful life left. The K&N is almost twice as expensive as an inexpensive Wix filter but it is a washable, re-useable filter. It does flow better than stock when it is clean but you will not notice a differance in performance on your car (seat of the pants wise or fuel milage wise). I am getting 15/20K miles between cleaning on my 850. You also have the issue of contaminating a MAF sensor (if equipped) and screwing you gas milage/performance.
