S80 2001 Can't open trunk

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

S80 2001 Can't open trunk

Post by jtom123 »

I just got a 2001 Volvo s80 and I'm still learning my way around the car, but I'm losing patience. I don't know how to open the trunk. The button on the remote doesn't work, and it seems like a pain in the rear to try to open it with the 'secret' key hole all the time. Is there a button somewhere? Or something? HELP!

Push the door unlock button on the keyfob twice, or push the trunk unlock button twice within 3 seconds.

I tried both of them just now and neither of them work. Anything else? Everything else on the keyfob works fine.

It doesn't make the trunk pop open like on some cars, it only unlocks it. You then have to lift up on the trunk release pad under the lip above the license plate. That's the actual "trunk opener." Use your fingers to push upward on the black rubber pad.

Check to see if the "trunk lock" button (has a drawing of the back of the car with the trunk lid up) on the center console below the sound system is lit when you turn the ignition key on. If so, the function is engaged and you need to turn it off. Here's how that works:

"Trunk lock" function

Pressing this switch locks the trunk, even if the
doors are unlocked. The trunk will remain locked even if the doors are locked/unlocked using the master key or the remote control.

To use this function:
· Turn the master key to position II.
· Press the "trunk lock" button. An LED in the button will light up and a message will be displayed in the text window to indicate that this function is activated.
· The function can be turned off (deactivated) by turning the ignition key to position II and pressing the "trunk lock" button again (the LED in the button will go out).

* The position of this button may vary, depending on the specifications of your car.

Hi,

I'm facing the same problem and it seems the trunk unlock button is not the center console. Can it be in any other location?

Cheers,

2003 Ford XR6 Turbo
2001 Subaru Forester AWD
