who took the diagnostic plugs?

Post by cet »

Thanks made in Japan and all that helped with my off track 850 96 windows. While ripping out the starter on my "new" Volvo to send for a rebuild i spent about 2 hrs "meditative" time and looked time and time again to the space adjacent the washer fluid input for those lovely diagnostic blocks with built in LED that i remember from my old 240 wagon, i am bummed to think this is the year they went to the 16 pin connector! have found a PDF which shows using a 12V LED and switch to get "some" of the codes but it is said to only apply to European market cars. Is there any solution short of buying a code reader and software,'cause this poor thing will need lots of TLC to recover from its past and getting those codes will be an integral part of the recovery plan.

You really need a code reader- really no way around it. Just buy a cheap one that reads and resets codes- Harbor Freight comes to mind... hmmm.
