1996 960 electric seat troubles:
right track up and back don't work driver or passenger.
Nothing blocking the tracks. I got 2 more seats from junk yard, passenger leather perfect condition shows now wear at all
so thinking motors, cables look good, all other functions work excellent. Really strange that 4 seats and all have the same exact issue. right track does not work . thank you for the help in advance breid95

This may help you, a very common problem with Volvo seats in the 900 series.

Dan R you are a genious. i resolved the right track cable issue with a 10cm very small piece of coat hanger. I could have used 15cm. can't believe volvo would use too short a cable. I bought 2 new cables 13.00 each and still wouldn't work until the piece of coat hanger.
thank you for coming to my rescue. breid95

Aha! Just the people I need to talk to
I finally took the plunge, clipped the hog rings at the bottom of the seat, pulled the leather up and checked the cable running to the right gearbox. I couldn't feel the cable spinning inside the sheath, but if I angled the cable just right, I could feel it trying to catch on the transmission end. I tried muscling the cable back into the motor temporarily to see if it would move but I didn't want to round off the square end so I let it be. If you could advise on how exactly to do the hangar trick and if it would work that would be GREAT!
Thank you,
Darrell
