1996 volvo 940 wobbling crankshaft pulley
After fitting a new timing belt my crankshaft pulley is wobbling although its tight,what have I done wrong and how do I cure the problem.its fine until i tighten it up tight. please help

There could be something behind it not letting it seat on one side - maybe a washer or some debris fell down there? Unfortunately, you probably need to take it off and see what's wrong.

The crankshaft pulley on your car incorporates an oscillation damper, sometimes called a harmonic dampener. The pulley is made up of three parts. The inner part is bolted to the crankshaft. The center part is a rubber ring. The outer part is the one with the timing marks and pulley cuts for the belts. These are all attached when it is new. When this part fails, the rubber part becomes dry, the two metal parts are then able to "slip" around this rubber part. This will also make the pulley seem loose.
To check it properly you will have to take it off. If it is suspect change it.
