I have a 91 volvo 240 DL (station wagon). The horn no longer works. I can make it work by connecting a hot wire to the horn terminal. Thus I have concluded that there is a defect in the horn pad on the steering wheel. Can you advise on how to proceed? Do I buy a new part? How do I get the old part out?
Thanks,
faof2

faof2, welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
This is one I haven't heard of for some time.
Before going into a long explanation of how to do this are you comfortable with the idea of disabling and removing the air bag in the steering wheel as this is the only way to get into the works and sort out what is usually a dirty contact behind the wheel?
Bill.

In response to your PM this is what you need to do to access the horn connections in the steering wheel.
The horn contact is on the back of the steering wheel.

The response to this question is an explanation of how to remove the steering wheel from a 940. Is the 240 exactly like the 940, or is this just a general guide from a similar model?
When you say "The horn contact is on the back of the steering wheel.", do you mean after the wheel is removed?
