So the new battery in my newly-purchased 740 GL wagon isn't charging. New batt got low to the point of stall. Charged it, sat overnight, no drain, but when running, it discharges.
So I'm thinking either the alternator isn't charging, or some cable isn't making connection.
I have a VOM, can I check alternator with that? Where else should I look? Thanks in advance!
1990 740 GL wagon battery not charging
Hey thanks for all the replies.
FYI what kept it from charging wasn't a bad alternator, or faulty wiring. Behind the dash was a connector that had come loose, that's why my gas gauge & speedo weren't working. Plugged it back in, viola, gas & speedo work, and 14.08 volts at the batt.
So thanks again for the help, and if anyone else is less than pleased with response here, I have found several GOOD Volvo forums: volvo-forums.com & volvoforums.com.
