Burned up floorboard and panel: can I save it?

Post by stacypat »

So, after an 84 240 wagon, an 87 240 sedan, a 95 850 turbo sedan, an 89 740 GL sedan, and a 97 960 sedan, I am left with the 740. My wife has the 960, and the others are long gone. But over the 4th, the 740's window is broken, and the stereo stolen; I cover the window with plastic, and yet, I later find that some scoundrel has tossed a large firework through the plastic, to land under the drivers' steering column. Not to mention the soot and smell throughout, but the panel under the steering column is gone, and the accelerator pedal is melted into the floor. The electronic panel (of some sort) hangs loose; the key in the ignition gets no spark, nothing. Can I salvage this and rebuild the floorboard and pedals? Or is it time to sadly say good bye to an old dependable friend?

Hi,

From an electrical standpoint its hard to say without seeing how much damage was done. As far as the floorboard and pedal goes thats possible. Can you take a picture of the damage and forward it.
