My 240 is a 230F engine with 175,000+ miles. I apparently need to determine TDC on number 1 cylinder in order to align the driveplate correctly. Is there an easy/accurate way to determine TDC on number 1 cylinder?
Thanks,
Bill
240 1993 How to determine TDC on No. 1
Hi Bill,
You should be able to tell by using the timing marks on the front pulley. Mark on the outside of the distributor where the #1 wire lines up and that the cap off. When the rotor lines up to the mark you are at about tdc #1. Then use the mark on the pulley to be exact.
Back in the old day we use to take the #1 plug out and stick a long straw in the cylinder. you can then walk it back an forth to make sure you are exactly at the top.
hope this helps.
