AC compressor will not engage
AC compressor will not engage
1991 Volvo 740 wagon non-turbo. AC was working fine, but now the compressor does not start when the button is out. Suggestions please.

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
The first thing to check is the refrigerant charge. If this has leaked or become too low the compressor will shut down to protect the system.
Do you have Manual Climate Control (MCC) or Electronic Climate Control (ECC)? The latter has a self diagnostic unit built in which may help with diagnosis.

Work was good - retirement is better.
