Can any S40 96-00 Drivers take a look in their Boot/Trunk

Post by timwebb »

Hi All

I posted a request for info the other day and have not had a response

My wife is going on a long journey and needs to use the radio

Unfortunately I replaced the aerial on her car but dont have the original wiring connector

All i need to know is ................ The aerial has a female connector with six terminals and three wires

One green(ish) one red(ish) one black(ish)

Can someone please look in their boot / trunk and tell me which wire goes where?

If you view it from the back - when connected the terminals are

1 6
2 3 4 5

Can anyone help asap?

Tim

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

Looking at two wiring diagrams for the S40 shows the following wires coming from the plug:
Terminal 3 red/black to fuse box.
Terminal 4 red to radio head unit.
Terminal 6 black to earth (ground).

I hope this helps.

Thank you very, very, much Bill

Now I am thinking that if you used my pin layout it is the centre two pins and the top right for the black?

This seems to make sense as the red and green would be in different halves of the "W" shape and the black would be at the top right

If you could confirm this I would be most grateful and I will post the result after testing

Unfortunately the wiring diagrams show the block in a straight line numbered 1 to 6. However, if the terminal block is shaped and numbered as in your post then I would agree with your reasoning.
