Gentlemen--
I have a 2001 S80 2.9 with about 30,000 mi. Like others, I've gotten the "bulb failure, position light" indication and have in the past corrected it with a new tail light bulb. This time, however, got the indication but no parking lights, no tail lights and no license plate lights will illuminate. Checked fuses 30 & 31, were OK but replaced anyway. Also replaced all four tail light bulbs (one was out), a burned out lic. plate bulb and a burned out parking light bulb. Still nothing. All other lights on the vehicle work. I checked all of the standard fuses in the engine compartment, drivers side and trunk (regardless of labeled purpose) for continuity and all passed. Still cannot get any tail lights (regardless of light switch position), no parking lights and no lic. plate lights. I hate to give in and take it the dealer but can't pass safety insp. like this. Any suggestions?
S80 2001 all position lights out
Hi, attached here some pdf copies from VADIS regarding fuses and relays layout for the rear lights distribution. You'll most likely need a multimeter to check the relays (as you'd done fuses check but see if a fuse for a fuse for a fuse for a relay
is intact - 2 diagrams for fuse boxes in the rear + 1 diagram for Rear Electr Module with a bunch of relays. One of those that supplies power to the lot may be bad. But ultimately they are all controlled by the computer module from the front.
Please let me know if this gen description is no good for you and I dig the wiring diagram.
