With no warning, I closed the rear driver door to my 1992 240 Wagon and upon trying to open it the next time, the handle simply pulls up free. Trying the interior release didn't work either. I suspect an interior component broke free and isn't tripping the release, but the question is... how do I get the door open to fix it? I fixed the driver door a while back and so am familiar with the process, but it appears with the door closed I won't be able to easily remove the interior panel.
Is there a secret release/etc. I'm not aware of to open the door? Or will I just end up having to do some damage to get it open? Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
There is no secret release but I believe it is possible to remove the door panel with the door closed after removing the rear seat.
Bill.

Well, my day was made when I retried opening the door this morning and it worked! The lock must have somehow tripped on that door (but not the others) and when I unlocked the car this morning it worked fine. Hopefully this isn't a hint of some other problem lurking, but for now all is well. I'm just glad I didn't have to try and pry the door panel off from the inside.
