I have a 2001 S60 2.4T. While I was out of town there was a power failure at my house and the battery maintainer shut off and my battery completely discharged. I put a 10 amp charger on the battery without disconnecting the battery. I heard some strange sounds in the car. Immediately I disconnected the charger and isolated the battery by disconnecting the ground cable. I then charged the battery to full charge. The car started and ran fine, but now the speedometer, trip computer, and alarm screen (door ajar, etc.) are not working.
Have I done permanent damage to something, or is there a fix?
Thanks
George Harper

Start with checking the fuses and work up form there. If no fuses are blown then you may have lost some of the electronics as you suspect. Best to take it apart after the fuse check.

You might try disconnecting your battery again and this time put the key in and at position II when you reconnect it. After this, try locking and unlocking the car a few times with the key- not the FOB. Hope this works!
