2005 S60 UEM/Siren Code 0004

Post by otis44 »

I had an 05 S60 2.5t fwd, that was lightly damaged in the front, I repaired the car and have since sold it. One of the causalities of the accident was the siren module. I replaced the original module with one from a 2006 S60. The car had the SRS light on due to the passenger airbag being deployed, I went to the buyers house this morning and reset the SRS light, afterwards the car displays the "service alarm" message and the code UEM 0004 pops up, it shows no other codes. The car did not display this message prior to this morning.

I don't know if the alarm was ever working properly, I did not own the car but for a short time. I can erase the code which is fine until the car is locked, then it pops up again. The sunroof did work, I did not check it while the car was displaying this message, I honestly don't know if the lights flash when the car is locked, there was/is no chirping sound (if there is supposed to be one) when the car is locked with the fob.

Does the siren have to be programmed to the car by the dealer? If not is it likely that I have installed a faulty siren module? Thanks in advance for any advice or help.

First of all, no the siren does not require software to be installed, it is plug and play. Part number is 9452709, which is the same for 2005 and 2006.

If you are getting a "UEM" code, that stands for upper electronic module. I don't know what the generic code translates too, but if it is for the UEM, then that is a different part than your siren.

Thanks for the reply, I've got to check this thing out a little further. I talked to the gentleman today and he said the error message was somewhat intermittent, as in sometimes it displays and sometimes it doesn't. He did not know whether the lights were flashing upon locking to indicate the alarm being armed at anytime. It may be something as simple as a bad connection.

As far as the code, I am getting these through a PPC scanner made by BSR. It shows UEM 0004, which through their book at least shows "siren". From doing some research on this site from a previous post the siren and sunroof among other things were noted to run through the upper electronic module. The sunroof did work properly on this car but I have not checked it since the car has displayed this error code. Thanks again for your assistance.
