Moisture in the combustion chamber on a Volvo 940 T

Post by Des Dawson »

Hi,
I've got a 95. 940 T ,150,000 k's, beautiful car, but I've got a problem with her. I'm loosing about two litres of coolant per 50 ks,none going into the oil but seeming to be leaking into the combustion chamber.Normal throttle ,no problem, lots of throttle ,clouds of steam and it seems like she is running on 3 cylinders and it may take 10 k's to return to smooth running. Help please!

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

That would indicate a blown head gasket. Depending on where the break is coolant may not get into the oil. Running on three cylinders is caused by the spark plug concerned disliking a bath. As the engine warms up it is only having a sauna as the coolant turns to steam.
