850 1996 fried alternator

a friend of mine helped me with my car and i could kill him for this but he hooked the battery up wrong and the alt fried do yall know if anything else that would fry too. i havent had this volvo long and the time that ive had it ive loved driving it. please tell me some good news?!!!!

It is tough to say. Fortunately the diodes in the alternator are the thing most prone to shorting out.

Get the battery fully charged, disconnect the big positive terminal from the alternator and give things a try including starting the car. Other problems should reveal themselves at that point.

Hooking up the battery is never a good thing. Lets hope that you just blew the alternator and maybe some fuses and that's it. Also, you can find the alternator here.
