I have a question for the members:
I owned my 2003 S80 Volvo now for a year and a half and every time I activate my locks (Manual door lock and remote), my lights use to flash to signal the alarm was armed. Then it just stop flashing to signal arming, but the system still is operational because I opened the driver's side door lock by hand and system triggered siren and lights. While the system is armed, the red dash light flashes every second consistently. Prior to this fault, I did change battery and had the car unpowered for about 20min. I thought that it must of loss the programing sequence and the dealer must reprogram now. Is this the case and can they also activate the horn sound and lights when system is arming? Would appreciate any insight and do the job myself if possible. Thanks . . . Jack

You might try locking and unlocking the car's front door with your key (not fob) a couple of times to see if functioning is restored.

Thanks MIJ,
I did that with both keys issued by manufacture - I also disconnected battery and waited a hour and reconnected and followed owner's manual to activate key fob and used master and valet keys. " No luck. " But over Halloween though, I disconnected the battery once again and cycled the ignition key to all three positions like twenty times to possibly clear any carbon scorching on electrical contacts in ignition switch circuit. While at it, I blew out key opening with compressed air and shot a blast of LaBELLE 134 Micro-fine powered Teflon* Dry lubricant to tumblers. When reconnected, it all seemed to be functioning alright now!!! And the key inserts and turns with ease to boot
What is funny, just a week or two ago, I had a check engine light come on due to P2407 or Volvo ECM431D - Evap Canister Leak detect/Interm-erractic or leak diagnostic unit signal missing ??? I replaced cap with Volvo OEM part $26 and change and cleared code with AutoXray4000 and it came back twice there after. Seriously thought I had to follow Extended Warranty P45 campaign and reprogram updated parimeters. Well, after cleaning ignition switch - which will be replaced soon!!! All is functioning normal - please note vehicle has 103,000 miles.
Thanks MadeInJapan for feedback . . .
