Replacing Radio HU-803 with a HU-603 Radio

Post by RadioTech »

Hi Guys

I have a Volvo V70 year 2002 and l wish to replace the HU-803 Radio with a used HU-603 Radio . The Volvo dealers have told me that the radio will only work in the vehicle that it came out of. Is this true ?

I now that some manufacturers have built radios that only work in the vehicle that they have come out of . I believe they work by comparing the VIN numbers stored in the radio memory with that stored in the ECU.

Is there any way around this ? How do they manage when they sell a radio from new ?

Lastly how do you remove these radios there is no holes for pins and no grab handles , everything is flush fitting.

Thanks for reading.

Regards
