Tell me about changes to S40 Post 2003

We have a 2001 S40 and we love this car. Our S70 is coming due for replacement soon and I'd like to replace it with a newer S40 (Well I'd really like a C30 but can't afford that just yet until some more used on the market!). What was changed about the car after 2003 besides the shape - are they as reliable, the good, the bad?
