740, 1992 brake lights stopped working

740, 1992 brake lights stopped working

My brake lights stopped working. both tail and in the rear window. the bulbs are good. i moved them to another slot to be sure. also checked the fuse, it is good... any suggestions?

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

Usually when the two main brake lights go together and the fuse and bulbs check out OK, the bulb malfunction relay is the culprit. It is in the relay board, behind the front ashtray, back row, left hand side. It is the only round relay on the board.
