(1) I suspect that the operating cable has broken, can this problem be
fixed simply by installing a new antenna already fitted with a cable or
does the entire assembly have to be replaced? Cost difference is something like $17.00 vs. $250.00
(2) How does one remove the passenger side dash mounted air
inlet nozzle, I pulled directly out with a reasonable amount of
force but it will not budge, since it's made of plastic I'm afraid
that it will break if I use too much force. Are there any screws or
mounting clips that have to be removed or released?

1. By operating cable do you mean the toothed plastic strip that raises and lowers the rod? Can you hear the motor turning in the base of the unit?
2.The vents are a tight fit and the best way to get them out is with a weather strip tool. Prise out one side about 1/4" then work on the other side until it is out about the same distance. You should then be able to pull it straight out. If it refuses to come then prise again with the tool.
Bill.
