Just bought a 2001 V70 with 120K miles, my first Volvo. Dome lights did not work and just found out previous owner had unplugged them from the wiring harness up in the head liner. Now I know reason why. They come on just fine when you open the door, but will not go off once engine is started. Cannot even turn them off by holding the center button. I walked away to do some research and they were off when I returned, so I guess they are timing out after some exteneded length of time.
Found a post suggesting cycling drivers door lock with key (lock/unlock 3 times) and tried that with no affect.
Need suggestions before I start throwing things.
THANKS!

2001 V70 Dome lights will not go out.
BUMP for more looks and update - yesterday, when driving around, dome lights never went out. I did notice the courtesy lights that illuminate the front floor boards are working properly, so it's only the overhead courtesy lights. Front map lights also work OK. So, rather than unplugging from the harness or pulling the fuse, I removed the bulbs so at least I've still got the map lights.
Does anyone feel this problem could be in the circuit board in the overhead light? I know the car must have sat out in a hard rain with sunroof open before I got it because just found back floorboard squooshy with water.
