940 non tubo wagon fuel pump

what problems could you expect if you used a Bosch pump, but the car is
Rex/Regina (bright blue injectors/coil is box like)? Could it work at first then stop?

By Bosch pump do you mean an external pump mounted under the car?
Would this be in addition to or replacing the high pressure in-tank pump?

An external Bosch pump is high pressure at the outlet but struggles to get the fuel from the tank. Cue the in-tank, low pressure priming pump.

sorry for the misinformation. I am talking about the in tank pump. The car only has the one pump.Broke down out of town had to have somebody I did not know fix it.The car showed no fuel pressure, so he changed the in tank pump.He said it was a Bosch pump.It is 3 weeks later and the car stopped again and shows no fuel pressure. Now I have the car at home, just wondered if he could have put the wrong pump in,would it even fit ?If it could fit could it be the problem? I am going to get a Regina sending unit witch includes the pump. Just trying to figure out if this other guy owes me the price of the pump

I was wondering if you intended replacing the in-tank pump with an external which wouldn't have worked.

I have looked at the whole range of Bosch pumps and the only in-tank pump I can find is for the Bosch system which uses a low pressure priming pump and a high pressure main pump.

You should be asking questions as it would seem that the pump fitted could be wrong.

thanks Bill as always your info is very helpful. This Volvo is very expensive to maintain, you make it a lot less expensive. I have been able to do a great deal of the work since you have been answering my questions. When I have to have others do the work I have been able to ask the right question and save big. Thanks again Lou R

So I am correct, there is only the one fuel pump ,and it's in the tank?

On the Regina there is only one pump, high pressure, in the tank. Replacing that pump with a low pressure priming pump will work for a short time but, (and this is my opinion only), it will burn out.
