How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

From what I have been told by the people here the 2.4i can not handle the high-pressure turbo. You'll asplode your engine. The only real option is the ECU upgrade.

I know, it's disappointing. :(

His 98 V70XC is already a turbo though... so it should be fine for more boost? I think you're referring to non-turbo cars, or am I mistaken?

For very little time and money you can do a Stage 0.

That would put you in a nice place maintenance-wise for any future upgrades like
Stage 0 makes you sleep better at night also. Stuff will break if you push it harder when your car is not Stage 0.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

I know it has a low pressure already, I have the exact car (except mine is in gray) sitting in my driveway. :P I'm just saying, from what I have been told the engine is not made to handle the pressure of a bigger turbo. Someone else can probably verify or disprove this though, I'm no expert.

Your XC is just waitng! It's anything that you wish to make it.

Option B? If you really enjoy the AWD, find an R.
I started shopping thinking XC, but the more I read, the more 236hp stock appealed to me.
You also get a lower, tighter suspension, cool upholstery and a kickin' stereo!
Oregon and Washington seem to be home to plenty of these cars.
Just be patient and the right deal will come along. Or fix up the XC! 8)

I agree about the 2.4 turbo is not as strong as the 2.3 when it comes to rods. I would go no bigger then a 15G get the ecu tuned set your cam timing, and a turbo back exhaust like OBX one. that could get you around 240hp, 250- 260tq at the crank.
93 850 5spd 320k (the daily)
94 850 T5 190K (race car)
95 T-5R wagon yellow (summer wag)
90 745 5spd 295k (winter wag)
67 122 2 door 4spd 69k :))
