Oil additive ?? Does anybody use this in their Volvo?

Post by tylka »

I own a higher mileage 850 Turbo that runs great for me. But I would like to keep it running as well as possible. So my question is, has anybody used an oil additive that actually works or seems to work? Thanks.

Don't bother with oil additives. Most are snake oil (Slick 50 and a few others) or detergent additives (B&G). Use a high quality motor oil that meets the additive requirements recomended by Volvo - go one step better and use a full synthetic it you want "extra" protection.

I have used Mobil 1 without any problems in all of my motors for the past 15 years. I change the oil every 5 k miles on the 96 Volvo (99 F150 & 89 944S also).

'96 854 - died an early death with 184K miles. Killed by the front end of an LTD on a suicide mission (T-boned and both cars totaled).
