What do you know...ANOTHER guy from KY

Post by xbrandonx »

I picked up my wagon since I needed to haul around my band stuff. A sedan took care of it most of the time, but my stuff is just way too large nowadays. I drove a few different late 90's V70's before picking this one up, A/C working and it was a manual were the things that had me chose this one over the other 2. It also has the 3rd row seat which is a cool option IF I ever need it.

It's a 98 V70, has some cosmetic damage, 160k miles but it seems to be running just fine. I found this site by doing a search on replacing the thermostat (this was the 1st site to come up) then proceeded to buy some torx sockets as I had never needed them working on my previous cars. Ended up with a small piece of mulch or something stuck inside the spring holding it open.

Here are some not very good pics since it's just way too cold outside for me to bother taking some pics outside. Maybe spring time

Next thing I know I was poking around on Craigslist and came across a set of these:

2 tires were due to be replaced, and these have some great tread on them, and cost me what 2 tires would have cost so why not get some alloys? Not my favorite set of stock alloys that I've seen but no need to be choosy on the daily. $200 for the seat with really good rubber.

Car needs a bit more to get it to where I want it to be, the Ebrake isn't holding, the cable looks good and is holding, this weekend I plan on checking the shoes on the cable to see if they're worn out. I've already tried adjusting it and nothing. I mean NOTHING, not even holding a little bit. Maybe something is seized up, hopefully nothing major.

Aside from that I'm going to consider tinting the windows, all depends on how well she runs after a bit, I hate to dump too much money into it just to die after 2 tanks of gas (even though 2 tanks of gas would drive across the country, haha)

My other rides:

86 Nissan Hardbody pickup. 3.0 V6, 4wd

Nothing special but does a great job going to lowes and getting all the home improvement stuff I need.

02 Nissan Spec V Project car.

I'd also like to say how I really like how this site is set up to have several write ups very well put together, whereas most forums you usually just see a sticky or 2 of the more common things and everything else you have to hunt down. Bravo!

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

I am registered on 12 Volvo sites and I agree that this is the best, thanks to Matthew's great personal involvement.

I have moved your post about the hatch struts as requested.

Bill.

Thanks for moving it..I'm registered on at least 10 different Sentra Forums over the past 7 years, however I've got it down to about 5-6 that I go to frequently, sadly the larger one shut down recently so none stick out yet, hopefully we can get it back down to 2-3 at most.
