LED 3rd brake light

2001 S80 -73K: I noticed my 3rd upper brake light (LED strip) is out. Is there a fuse or relay that I can check to see, or do these things burn out? Any advice or knowledge is appreciated. Hopefully this is a quick (and inexpensive) fix.

The only fuse is #3 (15 amps) in the luggage compartment fuse box. However, that covers all the brake lights. Check for 12 volts at the connectors on the high level light. If you have 12 volts then the light is U/S.

The other brake lights work just fine, so the LED unit above must be done. I shudder to think how much that is going to cost to replace. Something only a Volvo dealership can attend to, I suppose.

It certainly looks like a dealer part. You could call Erie Vo-Vo, link at top of the forum.
