1979 245DL transmisssion issue

I have a 1979 245DL with a manual transmission that just lost reverse. Forward gears work well. Any thoughts?

Is the gear lever moving over to the reverse position but not engaging the gear or are you unable to get to the reverse position?

Work was good - retirement is better.
