Took possession of my 1994 960 today as replacement for my damaged 850 S wagon, written off by insurance company after arguement with Kangaroo.
Drove home from Perth WA today in 44'C temperature car performed well in the heat, plenty of power.
Generally very happy although a few little issues so I was wondering if there is a link to a service manual like there is few the 850.
When I picked the car the fuel guage was showing just below 1/4 tank and after a little driving the low fuel light came on so went and filled up, to my surprised the tanl would only take 42 litres which is a little short of the stated 79 litre tank. At this point the gauge indicated just below 1/2. So after travelling approx 180 km the guage show about 1/4.
Is this a sender unit problem, the car has been sitting for a few months.
Another small issue is the reversing lights aren't working, can this be linked the the gear selctor?
Generally this is nice car plenty of grunt smooth ride and good handling.
I got the car for mates rates so can can't complaint about few small issues.
I will post some pic's shortly.

In my opinion a far superior car.
Unfortunately I haven't found a free on-line manual for the 960. There are plenty advertised for big money which are based on the AllDataDIY.com publication. Haynes didn't print one as they thought "that 960 owners would never do their own repairs." I still have that letter from them in my file.
VADIS, available from sellers on eBay, has a good repair section for the 960.
The fuel gauge sender may be stuck, something I have found with cars that have been sitting for some time with a low fuel level in the tank. The unit is easy to get to and may only need lifting out, moving over the sticky patch, cleaning the same patch and putting back in. Access to the unit is through an inspection hatch in the floor of the luggage compartment.
The reverse light switch is in the gear position sensor on the left side of the gearbox. The PNP switch is also in the same unit.
This picture from VADIS, which is as clear as I can get it, shows the location (5) Bill.
