V70 D5 '03 fuel pump in the tank installation problem

Post by niqus »

Hi,
About a mont ago my fuel pump in the tank started leaking, and my mechanic took it out, fixed and installed it back. But he must have installed it somehow incorrectly, because now the engine stops when there is still enough fuel for about 380 km. As soon as I add some fuel, I can start the car again no problem. The engine runs as usual, no errors from the computer. Hence, I believe that the pump somehow cannot reach to the bottom of the tank.
I gave the car back to the mechanic, and he asked me (-a woman - JUST AMAIZING) if I know if there is any installation trick or something, or the proper positioning of it.
I would be really grateful if I could find some help here (maybe a photo I could print??), as I live really far away from a Volvo service, and they are really unwilling to provide any information at all.

Thanks :)
