S80 T6 2000 front stabilizer links & transmission mount

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

S80 T6 2000 front stabilizer links & transmission mount

Post by jdhendrix »

I'm shopping around for the two items above. For the front stabilizer links I went to http://www.europartsdirect.com and they list 2 links; one karlyn ($14.02) and the other meyle heavy duty ($21.42). Is the meyle heavy duty one worth the extra money? And for the transmission mount I've seen this one at ipd, http://www.ipdusa.com/Volvo-S80-1999-20 ... -767-3335/, has anybody used this and how does it compare (length of life) to what I would order from the volvo dealer. Thanks for any and all thoughts.

I have a new problem from changing out my sway bar links, and hopefully can get some insight. After changing the links and on my way for an alignment I heard rattling from the front that made me think I hadn't tightened up the links enough. At the shop I asked them to tighten up the links. When they were done they said the links were fine and that I must have a bad strut. I'm not sure that is the case, because just the day before I had no rattle and the struts (sachs) are less then 3 years old and around 28k miles. I've jacked up the car today and I feel some play in the driver's side wheel, so I guess I could replace all front inner/outer tie rods but I'm not sure what else could be the sudden cause of this rattle, any suggestions?

In case anybody is interested I went with the heavy duty sway links, and they are ok but I didn't like the fact the the counterholds are hex and not torx like the oes. Also, the nuts are each one size bigger so if your going to replace your oe with these you'll 4 wrenchs (15,16,18 &19 if I remember correctly), 2 torx bits and 2 hex bits.
