V70 01 headlight lens replacement - bumper removal

Post by prienn »

I just received a new headlight lens in the mail, now it's time to put it on. Looks to be more to it than most other vehicles. When I pull the bumper, are there any airbag sensors that I've got to be especially aware of? Any other hints would be appreciated.

I don't think you will encounter any sensors removing the front bumper, if that car has them in the front they will more than likely be tucked up underneath the top of the core support. You might remove the negative battery lead before beginning just to be on the safe side.

Relatively simple procedure, and much better than forking over $400 for the whole headlight assembly plus another $125 for install. It took me about 45 minutes without any real issues. Bumper cover slid right off, after removing 2 bolts and 2 torx screws in the wheel wells. The urethane seal that held the original lens in place wasn't that bad to deal with - since my previous lens was shattered, I could easily remove it piece by piece.
