V70XC 2000 ETM/MAS help please

Post by jjsull »

V70 XC, 2000, just purchased, 109,000 miles.

It seems I didn't test drive it long enough :(

Everything is fine until reaching operating temp. Acceleration, cruise, etc

RPM fluctuation at cruising speeds (up to 400rpm), sometime shutters. Occasional hesitation on acceleration with a corresponding RPM drop. Sometimes there is a surge on acceleration. RPM drop around town (40mph) is less severe when it occurs.

Idle speed appears okay as does deceleration (1500rpm until below 40mph).

No CEL or code. Did have a very brief P0422 (catalytic conv.) code for 1 day, reset itself.

I've read all the threads that I could find on this site as well as others.

I just cleaned the MAF with the CRS product (all fluid dripped clear). Could the MAF be in "early" failure with no codes yet?

I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to see what the service record shows.

It's about 6 months over the extended ETM warranty date.

I will order the XeMODeX unit if it is pretty clear that it will fix my problem. Should I put a new MAF in first?

Any thoughts or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jerry
