2003 - S40 Emergency Flasher Button will not stop flashing

The emergency flasher button will not stop flashing except when the button has a piece of cardboard stuck under it. Does anyone know how to get to the back of the button? I am sure it is something easy to fix but did not want to tear up the dash to get to the button. The car is a 2003 - S40.

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

To get to that switch you do need to remove a number of other parts.

Remove the climate control module. This is relatively easy to do with a weather strip tool or, if you are extremely careful, a small screwdriver as to pry it out.
Remove the two upper screws now exposed.
Carefully pry out the two ventilation vents with a small screwdriver.
Looking into the two holes left by the vents you will see a panel catch in each one. Press the catches down with a small screwdriver
Pull the panel forward slightly.
You can now see the back of the flasher switch. Press in the two clips on the switch and remove the switch backwards. Disconnect the plug.

Installing is a reverse of removing.
