V70 2001 Splash Guard vibration

I have an annoying 'clunk' underneath the car when driving on any rough road surface, (of which there are many here in Guernsey!!). I thought a loose exhaust was the culprit, but on checking under the car the engine splash guard although bolted on tightly seems to be flexing and the noise transferring into the passenger compartment. Has anyone else experienced this, and come up with a solution..?

I doubt if your splash guard which is plastic will make a "clunk" over bumps..I would think its your sway bar end links whis is so common on volvos..Worse it could be a bad strut or strut hat.
