Bad ignition switch?

Hey there, long time lurker, first time poster. =)

I recently replaced the heater core in this 1994 940, and now it doesn't want to start, and when it does start it dies almost immediately. When I first tried to start it after the battery was reconnected after the heater core R&R, I turned the key, and nothing happened. No lights, no chime, no nothing. Wiggling the key around provided dash lights , pressing in and turning got it to crank and start, but when I tried to drive it, I had issues with it dieing. Now, I can't get it to start again, and I've noticed a couple oddities that somehow are intertwined in this issue.
1. With the key in the igniton, unless the headlights are switched on, there's no power, and
2. If I step on the brake, the power cuts as well.

Do all these systems run through the ignition switch or do I have deeper issues here? Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

P.S. Battery and coil are known to be good, and this issue wasn't present before the heater core was replaced. Could I have knocked something loose or pinched a wire to create this problem?
