steering wheel and ignition locked Topic is solved

i got in the old girl this morning to run an errund, started fine, but there was alot of snow in the street and i couldn't get out. i turned it off and i dug the car out and went to start it again with no luck. the steering wheel is locked and the ignition switch wont turn. i tried turning the steering wheel back and forth a number of times, adjusted the steering column position (knocked it about a bit,) but it just wont unlock. i jacked both sides of the car up hoping that it would free the steering column, still nothing. any advice before i get a tow. thanks, mitchell... 96 volvo 850t

My 97 850 does start but the ABS and traction light stays on and wouldn't shift from park unless I push the key in a bit more then it's fine (the steering is locked during this as well until I play with the key/ignition)

Pressing both buttons on your keychain together will start the car. If theft alarm sounds , then open all 4 doors and close them. Now put key in ignition, and turn it to start the car. It worked for me last month.
