re - transmission issues

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

re - transmission issues

Post by gunner »

My '99 s80 t6 has a rather solid snap noise when reversing on cold start up. It seems rt front , outter , like a caliper was loose /seized & releasing randomly - and it sounds like a rubber mallet hitting rt front fender, with force but only once and only every once a while. It isnt easy to duplicate the noise , and Trans shifts fine , front end tight , links & such, I think the o rings & bolts are required for sub frame , it rattles like marbels in a jar ....also , brakes , calipers & related are serviced & great shape... As per the transmission issues - I know some say go to dealer , I say find a seasoned independant Transmission specialist let them detail problem , based on my car volvo should go back to basics ....loose all the electrical crap ... my car is wearing my hoist out , @ 172000 miles ...

My a/c clutch failed few months ago, sent car into limp in , slipped trans limited shifting, I thought I blew up the Transmission, big time ... upplugged a/c electric clutch , replaced fuse , till parts came in and I replaced a/c comp & such. Works fine now .

Latest issue while attempting to merge on a highway , car backfired , when into limp in , set codes for Crank position sensor/circuit and a six pack of codes for o 2 sensors as result of rich fuel mixture while I limped car to shop.

My old s70 is 50x's the car this is ....I was attempting to "revise " this car to run it another 100k ... but :(

It could be due to bad engine mounts that control the torque:
